Muon Bremsstrahlung cross sections(pdf)

In simulations for astroparticle detectors it is necessary to calculate the propagation of particles through matter. To provide accurate simulation data it is crucial to describe the underlying processes with high accuracy from the theoretical side. At high energies the main energy loss of charged leptons is due to Bremsstrahlung. Existing cross sections are based on the Bethe Heitler formula and account for different corrections regarding for example screening effects and a finite size of the nucleus. Radiative next to leading order corrections have to be applied to reach better accuracy. In this presentation the current work on the calculation of muon proton Bremsstrahlung is presented aiming to provide an alternative cross section for use in existing simulation programs and to provide a basis for computer aided calculation of radiatve corrections.
