Simulations of the high energy array of IceCube Gen2 equipped with multi PMT digital optical modules(pdf)

The IceCube neutrino observatory is a cubic kilometer array of optical modules at the South Pole which is successfully operating in its present form since 2010. An upgrade of IceCube, called the high energy array (HEA) of IceCube Gen2, which increases the instrumented volume up to 10 cubic kilometers is being investigated. Apart from the increased volume, alternatives to the optical modules used in IceCube are subject of ongoing research. This talk will present some intermediate results concerning simulation and reconstruction of the high energy array of IceCube Gen2 equipped with one of these alternatives, namely multi PMT digital optical modules (mDOM).
